At Salto Systems, we are working diligently to reduce our CO2 emissions and implement sustainable initiatives throughout the Nordics. Through strategic partnerships and climate projects, we are striving to minimize our environmental impact and contribute to a greener future. We are committed to long-term sustainability efforts to create lasting change for future generations.
As part of our sustainability strategy, we have partnered with Trefadder, which helps us compensate for the emissions we cannot yet eliminate through our own Nordic initiatives. In Sweden, we have chosen to support Gold Standard-certified projects focusing on CO2 reduction and environmental protection. We believe that sustainability is about reducing our climate footprint. For now, it also means taking responsibility for the remaining CO2 emissions from our primary operations that cannot yet be eliminated.
Sustainable Climate Actions with Trefadder as a Strategic Partner in Denmark, Norway, and Finland
For the year 2023, we have chosen Trefadder as our strategic partner for CO2 compensation in Norway, Finland, and Denmark, where Salto's company Conlan also contributes. This partnership with Trefadder is part of Salto Systems’ long-term sustainability strategy, where we work towards the goal of achieving CO2 neutrality by 2040.
We are working both locally and globally to reduce our climate footprint and compensate for the CO2 emissions we cannot yet eliminate. A crucial part of this effort is our support of the Nordic Climate Forest, where we contribute to the capture of CO2 from the atmosphere.
Swedish Support for Gold Standard-Certified Projects
In Sweden, we have chosen to enhance our sustainability efforts by supporting Gold Standard-certified projects. In 2024, we are specifically supporting a clean water project in Cambodia, which helps local communities gain access to safe drinking water. This project is vital in reducing both waterborne diseases and CO2 emissions. By ensuring access to clean water through filtration systems and sustainable water sources, the need to boil water is reduced, decreasing the use of fuel such as wood, coal, and gas. This also indirectly protects forests, which serve as important CO2 storage.
Ambitious Initiatives Across the Entire Value Chain
To reduce our CO2 footprint throughout the value chain, we have launched several ambitious initiatives:
- Collaboration with suppliers and partners: We work closely with subcontractors and distribution partners to minimize our overall climate footprint.
- Extensive measurements and verifications: We ensure continuous improvements through third-party verifications and openly report our progress across the Nordics.
- Greenhouse Gas Protocol: Our CO2 compensation follows the Greenhouse Gas Protocol's guidelines for both direct (Scope 1) and indirect emissions (Scope 2). In addition, we cover the measurable areas in Scope 3, such as procurement, energy consumption, waste management, and transport.
