The Social Hub is an interesting blend of hotel and shared living space. It’s a large community that has hotel rooms for tourists, shared accommodations for travelers, student living quarters, coworking spaces for digital workers, and a creativity space for entrepreneurs.  

During its recent European expansion strategy, The Social Hub built this shared living model in San Sebastián where travelers, locals, entrepreneurs, and students from all walks of life come together to share ideas, learn, work, meet, and above all, enjoy. 

 

The Social Hub San Sebastián is the 17th property of this hybrid hospitality brand that is headquartered in Amsterdam and was founded in 2012 by Charlie MacGregor. The Social Hub San Sebastián is the third development in Spain (joining Barcelona and Madrid) with other properties under development in Portugal, including Oporto and Lisbon. The Social Hub continues with its exponential growth, leaving its mark in other European cities such as Glasgow, Amsterdam, Berlin, Florence, Paris, Vienna, and others.

Salto provides versatility and security to each building and its premises. Just by using a smart credential, you can access the entire building based on clearance level. Meanwhile, we get to see in real-time what is going on inside each area of the facility and monitor its activity.

  • The Social Hub San Sebastián reflects the company’s typical design which is modern and inspired by local culture. With 328 rooms and over 14,000 square meters, the property includes coworking areas, meeting and event spaces, as well as a bar/restaurant, gym, and rooftop terrace with a pool.   

    The spaces at The Social Hub San Sebastián have been conceived with a single purpose: to invite all members of its community, while offering experiences and facilities adapted to their needs.  

    When it came to access control, The Social Hub didn’t hesitate, commissioning Salto from the very beginning. “Salto has a good understanding of the solutions we needed and offered us a wide array of products along with integrations. We have also worked on product development and their future evolution to adapt to the needs of all our sites. The possibility of giving guests access to their rooms without needing to go through reception makes it not only a solution for the present, but one that takes into account how to evolve looking forward,” says Saimon Gómez Idiakez, Real Estate Development Manager at The Social Hub. 

  • Just like in all The Social Hub locations, the San Sebastián site opted for smart, keyless, and digital access to offer a better user experience, with simplified check-in and check-out, and improved security integrated with other management systems. 

    Access for the facility is managed by ProAccess Space, Salto’s powerful access control management platform that gives The Social Hub the power to make the most of the building’s access control. Through a single, centralized platform, building administration can manage the facility in a simple, flexible, and secure way.  

    Users enjoy a seamless experience when they enter the building, using a card or their cell phone, which also prevents the potential hassle of lost or stolen keys.  

    In terms of the product, unique and easy-to-install designs were selected, maintaining the essence of The Social Hub. 

    The student and guest rooms are equipped with the Salto XS4 Mini electronic lock, a pioneering solution that offers a wide array of advanced functions and an easy-to-install design, which makes it simple to transition from traditional mechanical locks to a latest-generation smart access control. The Salto XS4 One, a smart, secure, and innovative lock that’s designed to blend in with any type of door, has been installed in common areas such as the pool, coworking spaces, kitchen, and gym. 

    Salto electronic Wall Readers, which can be integrated into any type of installation, have been installed on entrance doors, vehicle parking areas, and elevators.
