The power of the Avigilon and Salto integration

February 18, 2026 - Partners

Securing every door, every user credential, access rules, calendar, and managing your site security shouldn’t require juggling multiple systems or running miles of wiring. By unifying Salto’s advanced wireless locking technology with Salto Space’s pioneering data on the card platform and the Avigilon Unity Access management platform from Motorola Solutions, any industry facility can now centrally manage both online and smart standalone wire-free access points with video security through a single, intuitive interface.

Bridging the gap: unifying video security, access control, and identity management

In the evolving landscape of physical security, facility managers and security integrators often face a dilemma: how to secure every access point, from main entrances to remote server racks, without the prohibitive cost of wiring every single door.

The technical partnership between Salto and Motorola Solutions’ Avigilon Unity addresses this challenge head-on. By integrating Salto’s smart access technology with the Avigilon Unity Access platform, organizations can now manage a comprehensive, hybrid security ecosystem through a single and unified platform.

One of the strongest capabilities of this partnership is the unification of access events with video surveillance. Operators can visually verify access control events using live or SVN recorded video audit logs directly within the platform.

Avigilon and Salto integration

The core concept: a unified smart security platform

Traditional access control and video security systems often leave many internal or remote areas, like supply closets, server racks, or distant gates, secured by mechanical keys. The expensive and complex wiring installation required for these doors is a big deterrent to full integration, creating security gaps and operational inefficiencies.

At the heart of this partnership is Avigilon Unity Access, a browser-based software access control platform that allows security operators to configure and control Salto smart locking solutions directly and extend to any access point.

The Avigilon-Salto integration eliminates this fragmentation. From a single interface, administrators can now:

  • Centralize ID Management: Add, modify, or revoke access rights across both wired and wireless locks instantly from one dashboard.
  • Monitor events: View real-time access logs and alarms
  •  Mobile credentials and digital keys: Deliver Salto JustIN digital keys directly to a user’s smartphone, enabling frictionless, touchless entry experiences that are convenient and secure.
  • Automate site emergency or intrusion responses: Initiate immediate lockdowns that encompass both Avigilon-managed doors and Salto-controlled entry points, ensuring full-facility protection in critical situations.
  • Configure access points’ opening modes: Manage doors, locks, and intrusion systems.

The integration relies heavily on the Salto Virtual Network (SVN) data-on-card system. This technology solves the problem of securing "offline" access points, such as supply closets, server racks, or gates at remote facilities, that are traditionally too expensive or complex to hardwire,

Instead of the lock needing a constant connection to a server to update permissions, the access data is stored on the user’s smart card. When a user presents their credential to an SVN access point, their card is updated with the latest access rights. They then carry this data to offline, wireless Salto locks. This ensures facilities can scale their security footprint without changing infrastructure or running miles of wiring.

Salto’s SVN data-on-card technology is revolutionizing the way offline doors are managed. Unlike wired systems that require constant communication with a control panel, SVN technology stores access permissions directly on the credential itself, be it a smart RFID keycard or a mobile device. When a user presents their credential to a Salto wireless electronic lock, the lock verifies the permissions without the need for continuous network connectivity.

Avigilon and Salto integration

This technology allows offline doors to join your centralized access control ecosystem without costly new infrastructure. Lock updates happen wirelessly or automatically during credential use, ensuring security policies remain current while minimizing installation and maintenance costs.

Delivering value beyond security

The integration eliminates the need to master two different software packages. Instead, system operators enjoy seamless control and visibility, simplifying daily security management operations.

Video verification (Video + Access):

A primary benefit of this partnership is the unification of access control with video surveillance. By linking access events directly to live or recorded footage, the Avigilon Unity Video and Access Control integration allows operators to instantly verify alarms and identity requests within a single interface. This streamlined workflow combines audit logs with visual evidence, enabling faster incident response and simplifying the review of automated security reports.

Mobile and keyless access:

The system supports modern, frictionless entry methods. Through the Avigilon Unity platform, administrators can issue Salto JustIN Mobile digital keys directly to a user's smartphone, smart keycards or Fobs. This allows for "over-the-air" management, where access rights can be granted or revoked instantly.

Granular control and site-wide response:

The integration provides granular control over facility security. Administrators can create rule-based actions and notifications for quick responses. Crucially, this includes the ability to automate site-wide responses, such as initiating an immediate lockdown that secures both Avigilon-managed wired doors and Salto-controlled wireless entry points simultaneously.

This powerful partnership offers more than enhanced protection; it delivers a clear return on investment. Wireless lock installation is fast, flexible, and non-disruptive, reducing costs and minimizing downtime. The combined solution scales effortlessly across diverse environments, from boutique hotels to sprawling global campuses.

Future-ready access control for your organization

This solution is designed as an on-premise, browser-based deployment, offering enterprise-grade protection.

The collaboration between Salto and Motorola Avigilon represents a shift toward "limitless access control." By combining the heavy-duty capabilities of Avigilon Unity Access with the flexibility of Salto’s wire-free smart locks, organizations can reduce installation times and long-term operating costs. The result is a secure, scalable environment where every door, wired or wireless, is visible and manageable from anywhere.
