Onnera Group was facing two key challenges across its facilities. The first was the need to manage and control access to a wide variety of spaces throughout the organization, ranging from general operational assets and staff lockers to more sensitive zones containing critical infrastructure and equipment.  

With a large workforce and regular staff movement, traditional locker allocation processes were becoming increasingly difficult to administer. The business required a solution that would provide a high level of security while simplifying day-to-day operations.  

Seeking to adopt a centralized approach to access management, Onnera Group partnered with Salto and i-SAI to design a comprehensive system capable of managing access control, ID credentials, and lockers through a single platform.  

To meet its objectives, the company chose to implement the Salto Space smart access platform. The industry-leading, SVN-powered web-based access management platform enables the management of large numbers of access points, lockers, and users through a single, unified platform. The solution has been deployed throughout the group’s facilities, delivering secure, efficient administration for both external and internal access points. 

At the building perimeter security entrances, Salto wall readers equipped with keypads have been installed to provide modern, secure, and keyless access for employees, contractors, and visitors. The readers enable authorized users to enter the facilities quickly and conveniently, while affording management full visibility of activity across the entire site. The system also provides audit trails, supporting operational oversight and security compliance. 

Particular attention was paid to sensitive outdoor areas where critical infrastructure is located, including gas storage installations, utility systems, and other controlled-risk environments. To secure these spaces, Onnera Group deployed Salto Neo Cylinder electronic locks. These compact, wire-free devices are robust and weather-resistant for long-term use in tough environments, and can be installed on a wide variety of access points – from standard doors to gates, cabinets, and sliding doors. Their flexible design simplifies installation while enabling remote access management and improved security in critical zones. 

Meanwhile, XS4 Original+ electronic locks were the chosen technology for interior access points. Designed to integrate seamlessly with most European-profile doors, the robust, stainless steel construction combined with easy installation and configuration makes them a reliable and scalable solution. 

At the same time, Onnera Group installed XS4 Locker smart lock units, some 380 in total, to modernize the operation of its staff facilities. This improves convenience for employees while providing a higher level of security for their personal belongings. With the lockers connected to the wider access control ecosystem, administrators can manage credentials, permissions, and user activity from a single platform, significantly reducing operational complexity. 

The comprehensive solution adopted at their sites now gives Onnera Group full control over access to and within their facilities, guaranteeing the protection of sensitive areas, improving employee convenience, and delivering a solid foundation for future expansion.
