Inaugurato a luglio 2016, Student One è stato il primo alloggio per studenti costruito appositamente a Brisbane a offrire contratti di locazione flessibili con date di inizio del contratto a scelta dello studente. È stato anche il primo a fornire assistenza 24 ore su 24, 7 giorni su 7 ai suoi studenti residenti.
Vicino ai trasporti e circondato da università, scuole di lingua inglese e istituti di percorsi, Student one ha tre sedi; Wharf Street, Elizabeth Street e Adelaide Street, che offrono una serie di servizi tra cui palestre, cinema a sacco e barbecue all'aperto. A 41 piani, Wharf Street è uno degli edifici per alloggi per studenti più alti del mondo e il primo edificio residenziale su Adelaide Street dispone di un mix di 55 appartamenti condivisi con cinque camere da letto, 196 monolocali e 108 monolocali a due letti.

We were happy to go with SALTO to provide our access control, as we knew it could grow with us as we added more sites to our portfolio in Brisbane.
Student One needed to manage many security and safety concerns while providing convenience for their residents across private and shared areas of the building. With a growing property portfolio, they also needed to ensure that the access control system they chose would scale with this expansion.
Installed by SALTO Certified Partners Toplock Locksmiths, the residence buildings are protected by a smart access control system from SALTO, as well as non-intrusive CCTV technology. The access control is fitted to student bedrooms, administration areas and student common areas. Director Mark Bowater says ‘SALTO was a great choice for this project and we’ve fitted Ælement locks and Energy Saving Devices (ESDs) as well as controllers and wall readers located in strategic hotspot points.”
Controlled via contactless smartcards (which the students also use for cashless laundry services) the Ælement locks provide a wireless stand-alone networked system through SALTO Virtual Network (Salto SVN) technology. This captures individual student audits and battery status every time they badge through an offline door, with the data then downloaded at one of the hotspot points on one of the residences lifts or other common areas.
The in-room ESDs meanwhile help save a considerable amount of room electricity consumption. These work when the students insert their smart ID card into the ESD and activate the air-conditioning system in the room.
